Quick Overview of Reach Regulations for Companies Selling Articles in the EU

Are you a company selling articles on the market in the European Union (EU)? Complying with reach regulations is crucial to ensure the safety of human health and the environment. This guide will provide you with a quick overview of the regulations you need to keep in mind.

  1. Determine if your article contains any substances that need to be registered under reach: if your article contains a substance that's intended to be released and the amount of this substance is above one tonne per year, you need to comply with reach article 7(1) registration obligations.
  2. Identify substances of very high concern (SVHCs) in your article: if your article contains an svhc in a concentration higher than 0.1% (w/w) and is included in the candidate list of svhcs for authorization, you need to communicate the name of the substance and safe use instructions to your customer under reach article 33. Additionally, you must submit information about this article in the scip database under the waste framework directive.
  3. Notify the european chemicals agency (ECHA) if you place articles on the market that contain SVHCs: if your article contains an svhc in a concentration higher than 0.1% (w/w) and the amount of the substance per year is above one tonne, you must notify the echa according to reach article 7(2).
  4. Check if your article contains any substances that are restricted: companies placing articles on the market in the eu must ensure that those articles do not contain substances restricted under reach Annex XVII.
