Law on the control of toxic substances (Tsca) and section 6 (h)

  • TCCA: US law issued in 1976 to regulate the introduction of new or existing chemicals.
  • Administered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • The Tsca does not classify chemicals in toxic and non -toxic, but prohibits the production or import of chemicals not present in the TCCA inventory or subject to exemptions.

Section 6 (H) - Persistent chemicals, bio -accurate and toxic (PBT).

  • Section 6 (H) Added through the Frank R. Lauttenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act in 2016.
  • It focuses on PBT chemicals: they persist in the environment, bioaccumulating in body tissues, have potential long -term harmful effects.
  • The EPA is required to adopt quick measures to regulate these chemicals, dealing with their risks.
